Should I get my egg quality tested now – or should I wait?

 alex

Hi

Does anybody know when is a good idea to get one's egg quality or number tested? I am 35 and my boyfriend and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months now. I am unsure if I should wait until we have tried for a year or just get it checked now because of my age. What do you think?

Thank you so much in advance! 🙏🏻

Hi alex

I have the exact same thought! Been trying for six months (see my recent post) and wondering if I should have a check up. To my knowledge however, I think that doctors would recommend you try for at least 1 year before doing anything about it. To me, it seems a long time to wait when you are just ready🤷‍♀️

@baby-wish yeah, you're probably right. I am just so scared that my time is running out. It feels like big pressure. It's unfair that men's sperm doesn't have the same "time limit" as our eggs! 🙈 I wish you all the best and hope that you and your partner get a positive result soon ❤️

Hi 😊

Unless you went to the doctor to get your IUD/spiral removed, your doctor won't know how long you have tried for. If I were you I would just go to the doctor and say that you have tried for a year. Better safe than sorry..

Good luck!

That is actually a good point Jen... I also just read somewhere that if you are 35 or older, you shouldn't necessarily wait too long to visit your doctor. Egg quality drops after 35... Maybe you can update us with your decision alex? 🙂

Hi again

I decided to go to the doctor! 😃 So now I have an appointment to get the quality of my eggs checked and all that. She was really nice about it and I actually felt much calmer about the situation and my chances of getting pregnant afterward. And that's probably almost just as important as the actual egg quality – to be calm and believe that it will happen.
